Tuesday 13 December 2005

Modified the 21/11/17

The agreement signed in May, 1981 between the CITY OF PARIS and the SNTE with the SAGI, which entrusted the management and daily operations of the Eiffel Tower to the SNTE, is to expire on December 31, 2005.

In accordance with the law decreed on January 29, 1993, the CITY OF PARIS set in motion the procedure during the year 2005 that would name a new company to handle the management of the Eiffel Tower as of January 1, 2006.

Three companies were being considered. On December 13, the Council of Paris attributed this public service to the SOCIÉTÉ D’EXPLOITATION DE LA TOUR EIFFEL (SETE). This appointment will take effect on Sunday, January 1, 2006 at midnight for a duration of 10 years.

SETE is a semi-public company, whose capital is mainly owned by the CITY OF PARIS (approximately 60 %).
