Filming at the Eiffel Tower: watch the video
The image of the Eiffel Tower, for the benefit of your projects
A universal symbol of Paris, the Eiffel Tower provides a unique backdrop for both audiovisual productions and communication projects.
The Film and Image Unit assists professionals with two types of requests:
- Filming and photography sessions conducted within the monument
- Requests for image rights when the illuminated Eiffel Tower appears in a project.
Our team reviews each request on a case-by-case basis to balance artistic ambitions, technical constraints, safety requirements, and the operation of the monument.

Filming
An iconic landmark of the Parisian skyline and an exceptional setting, the Eiffel Tower hosts numerous audiovisual productions each year. Films, series, commercials, music videos, documentaries, TV shows, and digital content: the monument offers a wide variety of viewpoints, spaces, and atmospheres, at the heart of a world-renowned site.
Filming at the Eiffel Tower offers the following benefits:
- An instantly recognizable silhouette
- Panoramic views of Paris
- A variety of spaces, from the forecourt to the upper levels, including certain areas not open to the public
- Customized support to adapt each project to the site’s constraints.
Filming Locations
Whether public or private, all areas of the monument can be made available for filming, including the restaurants, offering an exceptional setting for audiovisual productions.
Additional Spaces
To enhance your production, certain iconic spaces within the monument can be reserved for private use: the Madame Brasserie and Jules Verne restaurants, the Pavillon Ferrié, and the Gustave Eiffel Room.
When to film?
Filming generally takes place when the public is not present, so as not to disrupt the monument’s operations.
- Daytime filming: before the monument opens to the public (for example, from 5:00 AM to 8:00 AM)
- Nighttime filming: after the monument closes and visitors have left (starting at 11:45 PM, or 12:45 AM during certain periods)
Exact times vary depending on the season and visitor traffic.
Logistics and access
Each project is subject to a specific preliminary assessment, and you will receive support from our team.
For each request, our Team offers a multi-step process:
- Request analysis: format, schedule, desired areas, crew size, and technical requirements
- Site assessment: feasibility, safety, logistics, and operational constraints
- Application approval: documents, insurance, operational organization, and financial terms
- On-site support: coordination with internal teams on the day of filming.
A service elevator facilitates the transport of equipment between the ground floor and the second floor, making it particularly well-suited for equipment transport.
For the top floor, DUO elevators can be deployed depending on the project, and the use of public elevators remains an option as a supplement, subject to feasibility. For unloading, vehicles may be temporarily parked on Avenue Gustave Eiffel before being moved.
The "Mission Cinéma" can also assist in identifying parking solutions.
Special Cases
Certain specific requests may also be considered on a case-by-case basis, including:
- Extension of lighting displays
- Special technical setups
- Access to certain restricted areas
A dedicated team for your projects at every stage, from the initial contact through to on-site implementation.

Image Rights
The use of images of the Eiffel Tower depends on the shooting conditions and the intended project.
The Eiffel Tower by Day
Images of the Eiffel Tower taken during the day are in the public domain. They may be used freely and do not require prior authorization from SETE.
The Eiffel Tower at night
The Eiffel Tower’s lighting is protected: golden illumination, twinkling lights, the beacon, and event lighting.
Any professional use of images showing the illuminated Eiffel Tower therefore requires prior authorization from SETE and may be subject to the payment of fees, depending on the nature of the project, the method of use, and the media plan.
Private use does not require prior approval.
