The special lighting of the Eiffel Tower is always an exceptional event beloved of Parisians and visitors to the City of Lights. May 15th, 16th, and 17th, 2019 were no exception to the rule. To celebrate 130 years of its opening to the public, the Eiffel Tower offered 3 consecutive evenings to a Parisian audience of a light show that was truly unique the world over, designed by Bruno Seillier and carried out in partnership with EDF.
Truly spectacular, this light show made use of numerous unprecedented light effects: laser projections that highlighted the wrought iron of the Tower, strobe effects, the DNA-inspired light effects…Over 12 minutes, it retraced the history of this monument, its design, and its construction, up to our era. It was all accompanied by a soundtrack that was both joyful and dramatic.
Over a week’s installation
The installation of this light show required technical means that are rarely used at the Tower. The installation – at night, outside of public visiting hours - of all the lighting elements on the structure of the Tower, took over a week. View a video showing you behind the scenes of this installation and the perilous maneuvers of the workers on ropes at over 200 meters above the ground.
