At the request of the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, the Eiffel Tower lights will be symbolically turned off tonight, December 14th, to demonstrate the support of Paris to the besieged inhabitants of the city of Aleppo in Syria.
This symbolic measure, on a monument observed all over the world, aims to call out the international community on the urgency to act. The Tower lights will be turned off at 8pm and will stay that way the whole evening and night. The sparkling effect is also interrupted.
The teams of the Eiffel Tower Operating Company (SETE) fully support this initiative of the City of Paris and their thoughts will go to the inhabitants of Aleppo tonight.
